Visitors Center - Brooklyn Botanical Garden
Our trip to Brooklyn on Friday also included a stop at the beautiful Botanical Garden. This is a must see along with the Brooklyn Museum and the grand Brooklyn Library all lined up along Eastern Parkway next to Prospect Park. Some sample shots from the Garden are below.

Coney Island Landmark
On Friday, with out of town visitors in tow, we returned to the playground of our youth … Coney Island. The 270 f00t Parachute Jump was moved to Coney Island after its run at the 1939 Worlds Fair. It was the most intimidating ride and a centerpiece of the most famous amusement park of it’s time. It remains a centerpiece but only as a distinguished landmark. Meanwhile the amusement area is undergoing a renaissance with many new and exciting attractions. The beach and the famous boardwalk remain as a primary recreation facility for Brooklyn and the New York City community in general.

Brooklyn in Sepia
Another regression test on the new iMac. This could be circa 1900 if you can ignore the Lexus and Towncar parked at the curb.

The Manhattan from The Brooklyn
The weather has been so grey the last few days that I decided to go with it in today’s post. This shot was taken more than a year ago when Adam and I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge to get some pizza at Grimaldi’s. The view, the walk and the pizza all exceeded expectations.

Into the Heart of DUMBO
Taken Sunday while shooting for my SoFoBoMo book project. More to follow on this soon. DUMBO is a Brooklyn neighborhood acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. That’s a tower of the Manhattan Bridge in the background.
