Clinton NJ. The stonework is everywhere in this image. The buildings, the embankment, the sluice wall in the foreground … so why then the caption ‘Ice on the Rocks”? Frankly, “Ice on the Stones” just didn’t cut it.

A photo a day … more or less
It’s snowing again. It started before dawn yesterday and has continued off and on to dump about 20 inches on us so far. I wandered round the house this morning looking for a shot I could take comfortably from indoors. I stumbled on this one when focusing on an unusually lame landscape from my bedroom window. I was using my new macro lens and inadvertently focused on the window screen. I added the cool tone to enhance the icy look.

The Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge was created to fend off a plan to put a fourth Metro Area jetport smack in the middle of Somerset County many years ago. In my view , it has been not only a great environmental success, but it is also a never ending photographic resource at my backdoor (so to speak). Winter lightened up the other day so I hiked the boardwalk trail at the eastern side of the refuge to shoot this image. Many more to come.
